Well I got the bad news from canon that my camera was beyond repair...but they did offer me a "refurbished" one at half price, which I took. So I have the camera and am happy again.

I had my old camera for years and nothing ever happened. Of course as soon as I get a new one it's trash within days. Went out on a row boat fishing with a friend who soon became tired of rowing and wanted to switch spots. He's a big big dude so as soon as he took a step towards one side of the boat we both went overboard in the deepest part of the lake. He did a couple pirouettes first tangling my line around him before he went in. Even in the slow-mo of going over all I could think was mmmyyyy caaaammmerrraaaahhh! But it was too late...half the boat swapped full of water and my camera was bobbing around. After about 30 minutes of struggling
